The Average Price of Kratom Online & Locally

How much does Kratom cost locally and online?

If you’ve ever purchased Kratom before, then you know that pricing can vary widely from vendor to vendor. The same holds true whether you’re shopping online or at local brick and mortar stores. Regardless of this universal fact, one of the most frequently asked questions is ‘how much does Kratom cost?’

Here at The Golden Monk, you can get 250g of Mitragyna speciosa powder for only $49.99. But if you were to look through our Complete List of the Best Kratom Vendors, you’d find other sites selling the same quantity for a vast array of different price points. That’s one of the primary reasons we encourage people to look at their options carefully before they purchase Kratom.

How Much Does Kratom Cost?

Despite everything we’ve just outlined, we know that simply telling you that prices vary isn’t good enough. That’s why we’ve shifted through lots of industry data to bring you a more specific answer for online and local stores. First, let’s examine the online industry.

The Average Price of Kratom Online

It would be borderline impossible for someone to look through every single Kratom vendor online, collect their prices, and compare them all. However, we needed to gather some hard data, so our methodology involved visiting 10 popular online vendors. This list includes:

  • The Golden Monk
  • Kratom Crazy
  • Kraken Kratom
  • Happy Hippo Herbals
  • Original Harvest Kratom
  • Phytoextractum
  • Kats Botanicals
  • PurKratom
  • Authentic Kratom
  • Sacred Kratom

Once we had our site list together, we looked at a popular strain that almost every vendor carries in the powder format: Red Bali. Here’s what we found out:

  • 1 ounce (28g) sells for $7.99 – $14.95. The average cost of 28g of Kratom is $11.73.
  • 8 ounces (250g) sells for $30.99 – $54.99. The average online cost of 250g of Kratom is $46.31.
  • 3 ounces (1000g/1 kilo) sells for $89.99 – $240. The average cost of 1 kilo of Kratom online is $149.99.

The overall average is $69.34, which should get you around 500g of powder, give or take $10-$20.

How Much Do Kratom Capsules Cost Online?

Kratom capsules aren’t nearly as easy to compare as the powder. That’s because vendors sell them in a large list of different quantities. Some vendors only list the total number of grams, while others list them by the number of capsules. With that in mind, we took pricing from as little as 1 ounce all the way up to 250 capsules to provide an average cost.

The average price of Kratom capsules online came out to $35.75, which should be able to get you about 2 ounces worth of Kratom.

How Much Does Kratom Cost Locally?

Again, this is a difficult question to answer. Unlike the online calculations, there are also far too many unknown variables from city to city to do a more in-depth analysis. However, the data we did find suggests that buying Kratom locally will set you back about $50 for every 1.7 ounces (30g). When you compare that to the online average of only $11.73 for 28g, you can easily see why so many people will only buy Kratom online.

Specialty Kratom items such as liquid shots often sell for $10 or more each at local gas stations. In some cases, the price even skyrockets to $3.75 for a single capsule. Considering that most capsules contain 0.5g of Kratom, you’re looking at up to $400 for 2 ounces worth. As you read above, the same amount would cost you less than $40 online.

Of course, not every brick and mortar locations sell Kratom capsules for such ridiculously high prices. A more typical average is $30-$40 for 15 capsules, which contain an average of 7.5 g total. Again, that same price should get you around 2 ounces worth of Kratom capsules online or even as much as 8.8 ounces of powder.

Final Thoughts

Kratom leaves

As you can plainly see, there’s a very good reason that so many Mitragyna speciosa enthusiasts refuse to shop at brick and mortar locations like headshops, smoke shops, and gas stations. Aside from the greatly inflated prices, there have also been many reports of locally purchased Kratom offering a weak performance at best.

It’s also hard to know which headshop brands actually bother to do any testing to ensure that they’re selling a pure, safe product. For these reasons and many more, we always encourage people to buy Kratom online from reputable vendors like The Golden Monk.
